1. Why was the king advised to go to magicians?
Some wise men believed that knowing the future was necessary to decide the right time to do something. As only magicians were believed to possess this ability, the king was advised to seek their counsel.

(i) The bearded man was the king’s enemy.
(ii) Why did he ask for the king’s forgiveness?
(ii) He asked for forgiveness because the king, unknowingly, saved his life by tending to his wounds. The enemy initially intended to kill the king but was himself wounded before he could carry out his plan.

7. The king forgave the bearded man. What did he do to show his forgiveness?
The king forgave the enemy not only by words but also by offering to send his servants and doctor to care for him. Additionally, he promised to return the enemy’s property.
